WWW, July 2011 (From The Archives) - He's right at home in the studio behind the mixing board or playing bass. How does Victor Rice do on stage, performing the classic Jamaican singalong in Brooklyn with Chez Gardiner?
The message is clear, and the message is given in Poland but should be heard all over: we need Rub a Dub and the right sensi, not no chemical poison and devil vibes to mash up our minds.
The music is clear, too: heavyweight bass and dub sounds, with live voicing and live mixing to create the good vibrations once again.
Nine minutes and forty seconds of pure Dubwise and Conscious Niceness fe true: as the Zion Train interacts with the audience, delivering the message that it's all about knowing about Jah as the ancients knew about the Creator. Given the fact that this is all taking place at a location where already a few decades ago the Jah-denying communist government was still trying to fight all that knowledge down, pure vibes for those with ears to hear!
A very smoky voice continues to ride the live riddim after the introduction, asking just why there is so much money spent on rockets to space and military objectives, where love and peace should be running the place.
The band plays tight, obviously they've done this before, including the electric guitar solo which give the music a rock vibe, and a saxophone playing crucially skillfully.
TRACK 4 - ASSASINATOR
Live and Direct, it always sounds different. Not just because the recording has a few glitches here and there, but also for the obvious reasons having to do with studio technology. Announced as "new track from the new album", here it is. It would become another crucial Eek a Mouse tune.
TRACK 3 - PEENI WALLI
It takes a while before the band starts playing, but that is already the audience has been asked if they want more Eek a Mouse. And so they get it, in this long version of Peeni Walli.
TRACK 2 - WA DO DEM
Wa Do Dem, it's one of the most well known tracks by the vocalist who single-handedly created a new sound within Rub a Dub Music, early Dancehall. In this rendering, the Mouse takes it easy and takes his time.
TRACK 1 - ANAREXOL (HIRE AND REMOVAL)
Opening the 1983 concert wasn't easy, but Eek did it. Live with a hard hitting band that knows how to drop in and out while Eek A Mouse chant on.
King Words, too. In 1981, Robert Mugabe was the first leader of Zimbabwe. Before that, the country was named after Cecil Rhodes, whose scholarships made many people become members of the word elite. People like Bill Clinton. Just Google "Rhodes Scholar", and be surprised...
The tune is called "Forward", and performed over 25 years ago. What was "Forward", then, is "Today" now!
Those who frequently watch the news, know that Zimbabwe is in deep, deep trouble. The western world stands at the forefront in washing their own hands in innocence, while pointing the finger to Mugabe. Not really the picture that King Sounds and the Israelites had in mind, over 25 years ago.
They did have a warning, though. There is a thing, to never forget: Babylon is always looking for the riches of Africa and Africans, and will not stop doing so until JAH will finally downstroy her.
History, by the way, tends to repeat itself...

DUBROOM (DUB) REGGAE VIDEO REVIEW
WWW, February 2009 - Live at the Nottingham Carnival, three decades ago: here is a strong performance by a strong UK Roots Reggae Band that has not received the attention they should have.
Even though the sight and sound of this video are obviously dated, three decades ago this was brand new and it would still be an extremely good experience when the Sons of JAH would have performed this just the other day.
Good Roots, indeed, is timeless.
So let's go back these three decades, and see a band that was part of what was really a brand new Movement of UK based Reggae bands who, inspired by the success of Bob Marley and the Wailers, decided to pick up the Roots and make it grow.
The band is extremely concentrated, the vibe is extremely heartical, and the dubby end of the 5:20 long tune is extremely appreciloved.
